The Nissan Navara – Its Off Road Performance and Possible Improvements

There are many utes in Australia, some might say too many, some might say this is getting ridiculous with the most popular vehicles being pickups for years on end, but I say there is good reason for this. The good reason, why the environment itself, there are many palces you can go with a 4x4 that you can't reach with a sedan. This  is where vehicles such as the Nissan Navara shine, the varied terrains one can find in Australia can be tackled easily by the Navara, but the problem is can its paint, bumpers, sides and drive shaft survive the rough roads that one encounters on their way through the outback.

A capable 4x4 will be able to get you through the many sand dunes rain forests, and sprawling dry dirt roads that compose the outback. Driving through these areas might lead to your Navara's frame and cahssis being damaged by the various debris and deep bumps and that you might encounter on the road. There are a few ways to prevent this damage to your vehicle, you could use a few modifications that would serve as a barrier between your Navaro and the world. These modifications are bull bars, rear bars, rock sliders or running boards and bottom plates that all protect a vehicle from various forms of road debris which is kicked up whenever the wheels turn. And while this not only coats the vehicle in dust but it also kicks up rocks and everything else that can genuinely ruin the paintjob of your vehicle and gunk up the internals if not sealed properly. Equipping your Navara with proper Nissan running boards will protect it from bending and scratching the door of the vehicle. Nissan running boards, side steps and rock sliders also serve as a ladder to get into your vehicle with relative ease.

Then there are modifications such as the bull bar which come with their own set of regulations and guidelines that one must follow regardless of the vehicle they'll be attached to. Bull bars are required to follow the profile of the vehicle and be lower than the bonnet of the car. Simply sticking a large block of metal and calling it a bull bar simply won't do, you need to ensure that it doesn't disrupt the crumple zone of your Navara. Most bull bars you can find on the market do comply with the regulations placed on such modifications. However, you should always check with your insurance company before installing such modifications since they need to be accounted for and some insurance companies won't insure a modified vehicle.
